Film Festival Hosts Winter Program—with a Twist!

(Cape May, NJ) The Film Festival’s Winter Program has always given movie lovers a reason to come in from the cold—but this year there’s a twist. “You won’t be able to see the films at this year’s Film Festival Winter Program in theaters or on TV,” says Stefan Prosky, Curator for the Festival. “We are screening a select handful of movies that you can only see at this year’s Winter Program.” The program will be held on February 10 and 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Congress Hall. The Blue Pig Restaurant is offering a special menu lunch before each of the programs and your ticket to the screenings is free with your meal.

“And one other important feature of this program,” Prosky says, “there is no other place where you can see these movies followed by a special presentation from the filmmakers who made them.” The program will host works and filmmakers from New Jersey. “These are among the most well-received films from the 2007 Festival,” says Prosky. “For those who missed these selections, make a point to see them in the upcoming weeks.” These works have been garnering awards across the state and country over the past few months.

February 10 Screenings:

• “Letting Go” has been called a “mini-masterpiece.” Writer/Director Dan Masucci, who made the film for Steven Spielberg’s TV Show “On the Lot,” will present. Dan will also provide a special advanced screening for “Against the Wind,” his latest production. Visit www.lettinggofilm.com.
• “Revolution '67” was featured on the national PBS series “P.O.V.” and has won many awards for its illuminating account of the urban rebellion in Newark, NJ, in 1967. Filmmakers Marylou Tibaldo-Bongiorno and Jerome Bongiorno will present the documentary. Visit www.revolution67.com.

February 17 Screenings:

• “One Soul” is an excellently crafted short film that has invented a whole new genre—“the family horror film.” Arun Vaidyanathan is a Director whose work has won several awards both locally and internationally. Visit www.onesoulthemovie.com
• “Du Lang! Du Lang!” will bring you back in time to the Philadelphia high school scene in the mid-1960s. Sonny Vellozzi, Director/Producer for this film, will present. Visit www.dontgothereproductions.com.
• “Sam’s World” is a film that celebrates the color-saturated collages of renowned artist/humanist, Sam Maitin. Dancers both interact with individual Maitin shapes and find themselves embedded inside the art. Filmmaker Susannah Newman will present her film.
